Title

Aztec to Catholic Calendar

Description

These images show the calendar at the end of "El camino del cielo en lengua mexicana" that 'translates' the Aztecan months and religious celebrations to their European, Catholic equivalent. It states the Gregorian day that the Aztec month begins on, and provides information on both Aztec and Catholic celebrations. The first image states information about the month 'Tochcatl', which has a celebration for the Aztec god Texcatlipoca. This month begins on April 24, and the book equates this celebration's importance as equivalent to the Christian celebration of Easter.
